IndustryNet is the Industrial Marketplace for Automotive Electronics

The automotive electronics industry focuses on the design, development, and production of electronic systems used in vehicles. These systems enhance vehicle performance, safety, and user experience. Key components include engine control units (ECUs), infotainment systems, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and body electronics. ECUs manage engine functions, optimizing fuel efficiency and emissions. Infotainment systems provide navigation, audio, and connectivity features, integrating with smartphones and other devices. ADAS technologies, such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking, improve vehicle safety by assisting drivers in various conditions. Body electronics control functions like lighting, climate control, and power windows, contributing to passenger comfort and convenience. The industry utilizes materials such as semiconductors, sensors, and printed circuit boards (PCBs) to manufacture these components. Semiconductors form the backbone of electronic systems, enabling data processing and communication. Sensors gather data from the vehicle's environment, supporting functions like collision detection and parking assistance. PCBs provide the physical platform for mounting and interconnecting electronic components. The automotive electronics industry serves various sectors, including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and electric vehicles (EVs). In passenger vehicles, electronics enhance comfort, safety, and entertainment. In commercial vehicles, they improve fleet management, fuel efficiency, and driver safety. In EVs, electronics play a crucial role in battery management, charging systems, and electric motor control. The industry also supports the development of autonomous vehicles, which rely heavily on electronic systems for navigation, perception, and decision-making. As vehicles become more connected, the industry addresses cybersecurity challenges to protect against unauthorized access and data breaches. The automotive electronics industry continues to innovate, driven by the demand for safer, more efficient, and connected vehicles. It plays a vital role in the broader automotive sector, influencing vehicle design and functionality.

According to IndustryNet's survey of 6,517 Tennessee manufacturers, factory employment in the Volunteer state inched up over the past year, with more than 3,000 new jobs created between October 2016 and October 2017. This represents a one percent increase in the state's industrial workforce, and stands as the sixth straight year Tennessee has added industrial jobs. Yet, for the first time in several years, job gains were not led by the auto industry, as declining sales in 2017 put a damper on production. A thriving transportation equipment industry is what led Tennessee's remarkable turnaround in the years following the recession, with employment in that sector growing by 32% between 2011 and 2016, according to IndustryNet data. The past year, however, found the industry at a stands...(Full Article)
